Two weeks have passed since the newly Mythic Dungeon Invitational champions, Kjell's Angels, have been sacred and Millenium had the pleasure and the tremendous luck to get an interview from our champions, represented during this interview by Cirra, their healer.

Here is the armory link of each Kjell's Angels member:

  • Divinefield
  • Ciralliou
  • Ashine
  • Herudra
  • Doru
Quick flashback on what happened between Kjell's Angel and Method NA during MDI Grand finale

Before anything else, we chosed to ask to Cirra to introduce his team so you know who are Kjell's Angels' members if you are not a huge fan of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational.

Question 1

Before entering the merits, I would like to introduce you to the readers of Millenium.org. How did you meet, do you play within the same guild, on other games maybe, how long have you been playing together etc…?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

So the team actually formed during the last MDI. After watching the global finals of the last MDI both me (Cirra) and Divinefield (Our tank) were inspired by the play put on show and decided this is something we'd like to try ourselves.
The day after we both went straight to LFG (in game group finder tool) and that's where we originally met, just doing very low keys. We had quite a natural chemistry together and as such ended up playing for the next
few days with the pugs we had gathered together. After barely even a week we had just clicked insanely well as a Tank/Heal combo and started looking for some star dpsers to help us push for higher keys and play in a more
organised/structured setting. A friend we were playing with suggested a friend of his who would be a perfect fit for us (Ashine, our Melee DPSer) he brought in his guildmate Herudra (Our 2nd Melee DPSer) and to be honest
no one is quite sure how Doru (Our Ranged DPSer) ended up joining but we're all glad he did!

Once the introduction was done, we chosed to ask to Cirra if there was one specific way to train if we wanted to become world champions.

Question 2

You're actually on the top of the world when it comes to PvE with the MDI, how do you train to become a world champion ?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

For us it's about knowledge for the sake of understanding. What I mean by that is even when we weren't practising or someone couldn't make a full practise session we'd still be gaining knowledge that we could use when everyone was around.
Mostly that was done by entering mythic 0's and looking around the environment, studying where mobs where and what they did, how they interacted with the space and each other. Once you understand how things work you get to see
the bigger picture and that is when you can really start pulling out some crazy strats/skips.
Outside of that it's just building good team chemistry, making sure your mentally ready for what's about to happen and ideally not staying awake until stupid o'clock stressing over those last few percent on your mob count!

We wanted to know what were Kjell's Angels' members feeling when they knew they would face the mighty Method NA, those who sent them in lower bracket a few days ago.

Kjell's Angels' defeat against Method NA during Upper finals
Question 3

After you lost versus Method NA in semifinals, you won the lower bracket and met them again in final. What did you expect from the final? What were your feelings?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

The idea of playing another 5 games against a team as strong as Method NA after playing three games against a team like Method PogChamp wasn't exactly fun, but at that point we just had to step back for a second and take a breather.
"Don't get lost inside your own mind as that's the worst thing you can do, at that stage there's no room for doubt. You've worked months for this and now is the time to put all that practise into place."
We had our plans, we knew what we were going to do and on the day we brought it.

CIralliou from Kjell's Angels warning to Method NA (just so you remember it: Ciralliou is friendly, he and his team mates are often playing with Method NA on lives servers)

We were really interessed, probably as much as you, about their team setup. How goes a dungeon with Kjell's Angels in a more concrete point of view?

Question 4

Do you need kind of a Raid Leader for MDI? Someone shoutcalling? How does it go on Discord during a run?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

Sort of, yes and very hectic!
No i'm kidding! So our style isn't really to have one person calling everything, but people handling smaller bits.
So Divine will control the pulls, making sure everyone knows what's coming up and how everything will be pulled together i.e if he needs someone to go and grab a mob for him and where the mobs will eventually end up. (Some of them travel
half the way across an entire map. For example during Eye of Azshara we had 4 people pulling mobs at the same time so it was important we knew where the final stack point would end up being which could change on a pull by pull basis.)
Ashine is our more traditional "Shoutcaller" he handles our CC and makes sure everyone knows what's being interrupted by who.
I (Cirra) will make sure defensively everybody is ready for the pull/boss ahead and that we're in the best possible position to stay alive during that encounter.

We then asked to Cirra what are his thoughts about the future of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational.

Question 5

Blizzard is trying its best to develop the MDI, what do you think of the idea of a kind of Esport on WoW ?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

I think the MDI is a breath of fresh air in the WoW Esport's scene, scratch that…in the Esport's scene as a whole.
Everyone who plays an MMO has done a dungeon at some point so can on a very basic level relate to what's going on. The Mythic+ scene in WoW has grown massively over the course of legion and as such I feel like this is the kind of
content that players really want to see and the viewership numbers for the global final back that up. Most people will end up comparing MDI to the current PvP competitions that WoW has but to be honest this is it's own entitiy entirely.
Although still very new the difference between the first competition and the 2nd has been huge! Blizzard have really taken on feedback given by both players and viewers which makes the competition even better.
I'm not going to pretend it doesn't have flaws but this is the first of it's kind and hopefully will pave the way for many more competitions and perhaps some more competitive PvE content to be streamed?

Finally, we were looking for some kind of teasing about Kjell's Angels' future. Here is what have been said.

Question 6

I guess you'll try to keep your title in the next edition, how do you see your future ?

Answer from Kjell's Angels

For sure, the Angels will be back not only for next MDI but at Blizzcon in November for the MDI All-Stars event.
In terms of the immediate future most are taking a well earned break however me and Divine have decided to focus on our streaming as this is something we'd love to be able to do fulltime (click on Cirra or Divine to be redirected to their stream homepage)
We're spending quite a bit of time on the BFA Beta as well making sure everything is ready for launch and so far things are looking great. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little bit of numbers tuning dungeon wise.
Although I do feel Blizzard might be watching us, anytime we find a cool new skip it gets hotfixed in the next build.
Outside of that we're doing a few interviews here and there, we had the pleasure of doing our first team interview live on stream with Nagura a couple days ago actually.
(Keep an eye on our Twitter @AngelsKjell as we are also planning on getting some more casters and teams on to chat about how the competition went for them.)
But really right now our goal is just to get as many people talking about MDI as possible. The more hype generated around it as an Esport the bigger it will become, then hopefully it can turn into something way bigger than it is now
and perhaps we'll even start to see more teams get backed by sponsors or even established gaming organisations.

We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to Kjell's Angel's members, and especially to Cirra, for this really interesting interview and we wish them to be crowned champions in the MDI All-Stars in November!
